Recently I attended a conference centred on vulnerable customers and customers in debt, a topic that continues to dominate within the utilities sector, and rightly so.

During the day, the panel chairman asked the delegates, many of whom were senior stakeholders within the utilities companies, “Hands up if you would all like more data on your customers?” Not surprising the majority of people quickly put up their hands. Then came the pertinent follow up question, “How many of you could accommodate and utilise more data?” At which this point, an awful of lot of those hands then went down.
