Recent research showed 2.4 million UK adults skipped meals for an entire day in the past month because they can’t afford food, and foodbank users are requesting food that doesn’t require cooking to minimise energy bills. As well, in March, 23% of adults found it ‘very difficult’ or ‘difficult’ to pay regular household bills compared to last year, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
As the cost of living crisis develops, lenders and credit providers will be increasingly called upon to help middle to lower-income UK households cover everyday purchases as well as traditional, higher-value items like vehicles and mortgages.
