Giving back to society is part of what we do at TransUnion. Each of our offices selects a charity of the year and fundraises for it. Everyone also gets a paid day to volunteer in the community. These events are always great fun!

UK Charity of the Year - NSPCC

Each year our UK associates vote for our UK Charity of the Year. This year we wanted to align our charity support alongside TU’s global ‘GoodWorks@TU’ programme which takes a stand on three important causes – financial inclusion, child protection and education. 

From the charities suggested over half of your votes went to the NSPCC, an organisation which helps to protect children and young people across the UK. The funds we raise across the year will support the NSPCC’s Childline service, which gives young people a voice when no one else is listening and a place for them to turn for support – any time of day or night.

The NSPCC believe that child abuse is preventable, not inevitable. That’s why, every day, they work to protect children, prevent abuse and make child abuse a thing of the past. As the UK’s leading children's charity fighting to end child abuse, they have remained committed to this mission for over 100 years. As an independent charity, which receives around 90% of its funding from supporters, they rely on the support of people like us to make sure they can keep every child who needs them safe. Lithuanian Charity of the Year - Youth Line

Youth Line aims to provide emotional support for young people in Lithuania. Volunteers provide round the clock help by phone and email and organise public meetings in towns around Lithuania. The suicide rate in Lithuania is almost 3 times the EU average, meaning that in a country of less than 3 million people around 1000 people take their lives annually. Funds raised by our Kaunas colleagues will go towards training new volunteers to enable more telephone and email support to be offered.


Charity Events

We hold fundraising events throughout the year to collect money for our chosen charities. In August 2016 the TransUnion team took part in a sponsored skydive and raised a staggering £4792.08 for Yorkshire Cancer Research.

We also match staff’s own fundraising for their personal charities, and offer tax efficient payroll giving.


We offer a fantastic Volunteering Scheme at TransUnion

  • We give every employee one day per year to undertake volunteering
  • Employees have the opportunity to volunteer as an individual or as part of a team
  • There’s flexibility and variety around when and where employees can volunteer
  • There’s opportunities near to all offices, or UK-wide

We’ve been in touch with a number of organisations already, to give employees lots of ideas for where they could volunteer, for example: SkillsBridge, St. Gemma’s Hospice, Age UK, Mosaic Leeds University and Centrepoint. However, there’s also the option for employees to volunteer with an organisation that is personal to them.

Community Volunteering

We get great feedback from people about our volunteering days. Teams choose the cause they’d like to support and do it as a paid, working day.

For example in 2016 our Leeds Marketing Team worked together at St Gemma's warehouse to sort donated stock and prepare it to be sent to the 23 St Gemma’s Hospice shops across Leeds.
